Girish Malik grew up & studied in Delhi. He has been creatively inclined since childhood & explored many mediums. He was a state level gymnast, later gravitated towards semi- classical & folk dancing specializing in ‘Chau’ (an Indian tribal martial dance) and then got into the theater where he spent many years acting with the most reputed personalities of Delhi Theater.

Theatre led to television acting stints in Mumbai where he worked as a lead actor in some of the most popular shows for seven years like ‘Tara’, ‘Banegi Apni Baat’ etc. At the peak of his acting career Girish turned to production, direction and writing and set up a very successful television and advertising production company. He has produced and directed over 1000 hours of TV shows & docu- dramas and around 50 ad films.

Girish created the first series of TV movies on the Indian Television called ‘Mission Fateh’ based on real-life Indian army missions from 1947 till Kargil on the basis of army citations. The series was made with the support of Indian army. He also created the TV movies series for Zee Tv called ‘Rishtey’.

Girish was also a creative consultant for some of the top Indian broadcasters. He brought in & customized content from across the world and worked with companies like Dorimedia (Israel), Globo TV (Brazil) &Televisa (Mexico). He also wrote many scripts for the one-hour shows on Zee TV, Sony & Sahara.

His debut film as a feature film writer, director and producer; JAL released on April 4, 2014. JAL was in Competition at 18th Busan International Film Festival and 44th International Film Festival of India, Goa – Indian Panorama.It is also a recipient of National Award for ‘Best Visual Effects’ (2014). JAL made a remarkable presence globally by getting qualified in the advance list of Oscar Contentions for the ‘Best Original Score’ and ‘Best Picture’ categories. Its Screenplay was invited to be a part of permanent core collection at the prestigious Oscar Library.

Girish’s signature is his strong and unusual content, rich visual narrative as well as strong aesthetics and production design. He prefers to shoot in real locations and has always made an impact with the unexplored locales and attention to detail in his storytelling and production design.

Girish has completed his next film: ‘Torbaaz’ & is in the last leg of finishing ‘Band of Maharajas’.
